Why it is Critical to Know your Insurance Minimum Security Requirements

When you renew your domestic or commercial insurance each year you probably receive a large bundle of documents that you put aside with all good intentions of reading but the deadline runs out, you renew and simply never get around to reading those documents.

The vast majority of insurers have minimum security requirements for home and business owners and you should find those in the big wadge of documentation sent when you take out insurance or at renewal time.

IF YOU FAIL TO MEET THOSE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS THEY CAN REFUSE TO PAY YOU OUT IN THE EVENT OF A BURGLARY EVEN IF THE POINT OF ENTRY WAS THROUGH A COMPLIANT POINT OF ENTRY.

The majority require a minimum of a 5 lever British Standard lock (or equivalent) on the final exit point (door you enter and leave from) and window locks on all windows accessible from the ground floor.

I would say that more than half of all domestic and commercial premises I attend are not insurance compliant, imagine the cost to you if your insurer failed to pay out following a burglary.

It is not as expensive as you might think to become compliant, Call us today for free advice and quotes should you wish us to undertake any work.
